Was Shakespeare really Shakespeare?
As we discussed yesterday, Shakespeare is one of the most influential writers of the English language, but very little is known about his life.
Where did he go to school? How did he learn to write?
Why can't scholars find his manuscripts or books?
Could one man write so many plays?
Many of these holes in Shakespeare's biographical details have led scholars to question whether Shakespeare from Stratford-upon-Avon was really the literary genius who wrote his plays and sonnets. Several theories exist that support the idea that "Shakespeare" was not who he seemed.
In this class, we will try to uncover the mystery and decide for ourselves who was William Shakespeare. First, watch this video.
